How to make Afghans (Biscuits)
By Hamish Marson email@example.com 23 Feb 1994

From memory.. (Apologies about the imperial units, but I got this one
from a cook book of recipies that my nan wrote, and they were all like
cream the butter & sugar. Add (sifted) 2 cups flour, 2 teaspoons baking
powder, 2 tablespoons cocoa and 1 cup cornflakes OR 1 cup crushed weatbix.
(Don't try sifting the cornflakes :)
Bake for 10-14 minutes, moderate oven...
I think thats what it was...

The 2oz butter 2oz sugar is a mistake I think.
Yes all my mother's regular hard biscuits were equal parts butter
and sugar, but the Edmond's recipe for afghans is great, and its
7oz butter, 3oz sugar, a cup or so of flour? I forget.
2 and 3/4 weetbix, 2 T cocoa, regular mixing procedure.
This way they are not sweet (and hence sickly), but also
the butter makes them rich and they stay crisp.
