Experience a taste of warm 'kiwi' hospitality when you cruise Cook Strait with the proudly New Zealand owned Bluebridge service.

With stunning scenery, friendly service, free big screen movies and a choice of up to four return sailings a day (except Christmas Day) between Wellington and Picton - there's no better way for you and your vehicle to cross Cook Strait.

The Voyage

The journey from New Zealand's North to South Island (or vice versa) takes you through what is undoubtedly some of the world's most stunning scenery. Crossing time is 3 hours 20 minutes.

From the dynamic, hilly cityscape of Wellington Harbour out through the rugged rocks and steep cliffs above the Wellington Heads - this is a trip made up of spectacular contrasts.

On a clear day you can see the outline of the South Island as you depart Wellington. And as you sail the short stretch of open water between Wellington Heads and Tory Channel, it pays to look out for dolphins, whales and other wildlife that often keep our ferries company.

Tory Channel and the trip through the Marlborough Sounds is breathtaking - from every angle. Rolling hills, lushly covered with native New Zealand bush to the waters edge are dotted with the occasional remote holiday home (known in the South Island as a crib), with water access only.

As you cruise Queen Charlotte Sound towards Picton at its head, you'll experience an area famous for its beautiful beaches, bush walks and great climate.
