Meet at the dive centre at 8:30am in Warkworth to register. You will then take a short drive to the launch site and then a boat trip to the site.

You will have a briefing and then a 20-minute trip to the marine reserves. Your charter includes 2 x tank dives with a short break in between for lunch.

New Zealand’s first marine reserve, better known as Goat Island was created in 1975 and officially opened in 1977. Dive from the boat “Midnight diver” and get to see areas unreachable from the shore. See the wild side of Goat Island.

In contrast Tawharanui Marine Reserve was established in September 2011. The 400 hectare marine reserve replaces the existing Tawharanui Marine Park as a no take fishing area since 1981. The reserve allows marine life to flourish. You don’t have to swim far to find a nest of crayfish all sitting there blatantly, as if they know they are safe.

Dives are suitable for all levels and underwater guides are available to take you around the reserves. They will help you spot the Crays, Nudibranch and other marine species.

In between dives you are free to snorkel, swim and relax. Perhaps spot some sting rays basking in the shallows or walk across the rocks. Your tour ends with your boat ride back to the marina.
