Rob Roy Glacier Guided Walk

Grade: Moderate Fitness
Trip Duration: Full Day
Season: All year round but weather dependent

The day begins with a scenic drive in our 4WD air conditioned vehicles around Lake Wanaka, and into the Matukituki valley driving through several fords, stopping for photos along the way. The guided walk begins through farmland with sheep and cattle, and across a swing bridge into the alpine rainforest to emerge above the treeline into the alpine herb fields opposite four glacier faces. This is a perfect lunch spot and a base for further exploration of this magical valley, the jewel of Mt Aspiring National Park. Swing bridge, waterfalls, rainforest, crystal clear mountain streams and glaciers - the Rob Roy Glacier guided Walk has it all!

Following lunch the walk is all downhill back to the car park. The end of the day... but the beginning of a lifetime memory!
Add a helicopter flight and glacier landing to make this trip your perfect alpine experience.

Diamond Lake

With wonderful panoramic views over Lake Wanaka, the Matukituki River, Mt Aspiring and the Mt Aspiring National Park, the climb to the summit will be worth it!

The Outlet Track is an easy walking track along the banks of the Clutha (Mata-Au) River. The track is suitable for walkers of all ages, and offers good scenic views along the way. Impressive views can be seen of Mt Iron, the Southern Alps and in particular the permanent ice of the Fog Peak Glacier. The walk finishes at Lake Wanaka, with panoramic views of New Zealand's fourth largest lake spilling the South Island's second longest river and the largest river by volume in New Zealand.
