Welcome to Waipari Lodge, Lake Taupo. Waipari is a 10,000 acre slice of outdoor lovers' heaven. Its native bush and forested slopes are home to deer, wild pig, goats and feral sheep. The air is filled with the calls of an abundant birdlife and the clear streams are an angler's dream. Come to Waipari and you might think you've arrived in paradise. You could well be right.
Waipari offers a host of opportunities for activities, including Hunting, Fishing, 4WD experiences, Abseiling, Mountain biking, Clay shooting, Hiking, Photographic safari and animal/bird watching.For the more adventurous there are 4WD's, quad and mountain biking. Try a five hour quad bike tour in the wilderness with a packed lunch or get your adrenalin pumping abseiling from one of Waiparis steep escarpments.
For a more contemplative hunting experience we offer photographic safaris with bird watching, wild animal spotting - and truly spectacular scenery.
All adventure activities are under the watchful eye of trained supervisors and whether you're an outdoors person from way back or out for your first wilderness experience, you'll find what you want at Waipari.
HUNTING
Waipari is, above all else, a unique hunting experience. Between March to July Red Stag Deer Hunting is at its best. Superb trophy animals, 12 to 20 pointers from a variety of English strains, present an irresistible challenge.
Other wild trophy animals include fallow bucks, wild ram, wild goats, wild boar, wild turkey and ducks, hares and rabbit, all in abundance. While the terrain is at times difficult, it is never impossible. For keen hunters - whether experienced or new to the sport - the combination of wary animals and endlessly varied landscape makes for an unforgettable experience.
Experienced, professional guides are available to help you secure your prize. For those seeking adventures further afield, we can also organise tahr and chamois hunting in the Southern Alps. We have a range of Hunting and Fishing packages, ranging from 1 to 7 nights, and all inclusive packages include trophy fees.
As an example,our 'Hunt all 3 in a week Package' is 7 nights, 6 days hunting on both the North and South Island. Enjoy a private charter scenic flight between the North and South Island in our very own Cessna 425 Conquest, and then feel the thrill of exploring our Southern Alps concession in the Ferrari of helicopters, a Hughes 500D to spot game and hunt chamois and tahr.
This package includes Charter flight and ALL helicopter flying time, personal hunt guide, trophy fees, all accommodation, food, beverages and airport transfers.
ACCOMMODATION
Comfort, rather than opulence, is the key word at Waipari. Warm, modern cabins, set close to the bush, provide a tranquil setting. Each cabin includes a hot shower and efficient wood burner. We also have facilities for the physically impaired. Accommodation fees include all bedding, towels and meals.
On a clear evening the sky is a brilliant array of stars and you'll wake in the morning to the song of tui and bellbirds.
Meals are in keeping with the setting. A hearty breakfast menu starts the day and, as you might expect game is frequently on the dinner menu always cooked to perfection.
HOW TO GET THERE
Waipari is a 30 minute drive west of Turangi which is on the Southern shores of Lake Taupo. Helicopter transport can be arranged from Taupo and Taumarunui (the closest airstrip to Waipari) on request. Likewise, we can organise road transport from Auckland International Airport or Taupo Airport on your behalf.
For guests with limited time, we can also charter a 5 seater aircraft to take you to or from Taumarunui to Auckland Airport.
