Epic Adventures is based in Tairua on the Coromandel Peninsula, only one and a half hours from Auckland International Airport. We want to take you on a New Zealand adventure to remember and put you on to great fishing action in an absolutely spectacular setting. We recognise that a day on the water shouldn't cost the earth and that each angler should get the full attention of the skipper. Tairua and the Coromandel are renowned for their spectacular coastline, offshore islands and great fishing and diving. At Epic Adventures we have a reputation for putting people on to big New Zealand yellowtail kingfish, and we are perfect for a New Zealand fishing holiday.
We specialise in affordable fishing expeditions for one person up to larger groups, giving you a good opportunity to hook into a decent snapper or yellowtail kingfish. We're set up to target any New Zealand sportsfish including tuna and marlin in season and reef fish like terahki, golden snapper and hapuka. However, year round we tend to target the major New Zealand sportsfish.
Fishing the Coromandel with your own personal guide does not get much more affordable than this! Target the fish of a lifetime - big kingis and snapper at our secret spots from our 6m Stabicraft 'Epic Adventures'. Our typical day is six hours long but we are happy to fish longer on arrangement. Pick your hours. We don't mind an early start, in fact when it comes to kingfish it is usually the best time to target them. For snapper a late start and finish works best.
All full day charters include bait, burley, all tackle, fishing rods and reels and a wicked hearty lunch!
Epic Adventures can provide a range of fishing experiences from 1 to 7 days. From full and half day Fully Guided fishing adventures, to our Epic Coromandel Experience, where you can mix up a few days on the water, catching and eating seafood with some of the other highlights of the Coromandel like sea kayaking, bush walks, Hot Water Beach, Cathedral Cove, Driving Creek Railway and more. Self contained or hosted accommodation, transfers and land based guides are all arranged. Priced on request.
Learn to Dive
Your host Carl is a PADI Instructor and can take you for your first breaths underwater. The PADI Open Water course takes approximately four full days to complete and comprises theory, pool dives to get you comfortable and familiar with your gear and finally four fun filled dives in the sea.
The Coromandel is blessed with some of New Zealand's best scuba diving, from shallow dives in marine reserves, to offshore pinnacles teeming with pelagic fish.Visibility ranges from 10m - 30m and you can experience a myriad of marine life.
We can take you diving anywhere along the Coromandel coastline and are ideally suited to go and explore new spots. Whether you're looking for a crayfish, or just looking, we'll show you some of the area's best diving.
Other Boats
Got a bigger group? Or want to overnight on the water? Simply join us on another bigger vessel which can be organised on request. We work with several other bigger vessels and guide bigger groups with them. This provides options for multi day trips to Great Barrier Island and the Mercury Islands, both great for overnighting. We can put together any trip to suit your requirements.
