A popular four day tour including Milford Sound tour & cruise, West Coast Glaciers, rainforest walk & TranzAlpine train. Day 1 Christchurch-Mt Cook-Queenstown Travel south following the foothills of the Southern Alps to Mt Cook Village via Lakes Tekapo and Pukaki. then on to Queenstown travelling via the Lindis Pass and the Kawarau Gorge. Day 2 Full Day Excursion to Milford Sound A coach journey to one of the world's greatest natural wonders. Fiordland is a vast remote wilderness with snow capped mountains, glacial lakes and valleys, fiords, islands, waterfall and dense forests. An optional scenic flight may be taken for the return journey to Queenstown. Day 3 Queenstown - Franz Josef Glacier Travel to the West Coast through the Haast Pass into the Westland National Park. On arrival at Franz Josef you will travel to the Franz Josef Glacier valley where you can take any one of the number of short walks available to see the glacier. Day 4 Glaciers - Christchurch Travel north through lush rainforests and spectacular scenery to Greymouth to join the world famous TranzAlpine Train. This remarkable journey from the West Coast to the East Coast includes the lush rainforests of the Arthur's Pass National Park, passing through the Southern Alps via the Otira Tunnel, across massive viaducts and over the Waimakariri Gorge before descending to the fertile farmlands of the Canterbury Plains and on to Christchurch. Option: Spend an extra day at the glaciers to experience a half day guided walk onto the glacier or to enjoy some of the many bushwalks.
