Kia Ora, welcome to Milestone Tours' Rotorua and Waitomo Voyager.

South of Auckland lie three of New Zealand's greatest natural wonders; geothermal Rotorua, stunning Lake Taupo and the awe-inspiring Waitomo Caves.

Join us, and bask in the dramatic beauty of Waitomo's Glow-worm and Aranui caves. Feast your eyes on Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro Mountains reflected in Lake Taupo before watching the mighty Waikato River launch itself over the Huka Falls. Then experience nature's geothermal pyrotechnics at Wai-O-Tapu near Rotorua.

The Tour

Heading south along the Waikato, New Zealand's longest river, we pass the sacred mountain at Taupiri that watches over the home of the Maori king at Ngaruawahia, then it's time for lunch in Otorohanga.

The Waitomo Caves are one of New Zealand's most celebrated attractions, where a local Maori guide leads us through a magnificent underground cathedral and a breathtaking underground boat trip lit by millions of tiny glow-worms. We then enter the Aranui cave, filled with stalactites, stalagmites and many a Maori legend.

A road between the Rangitoto and Hauhungaroa Ranges leads to shimmering Lake Taupo: a cosmopolitan town and gateway to the Taupo Volcanic Zone. It's here we turn in for the night, after dining as the sun sets across the beautiful lake.

Day two begins with stunning vistas across the lake to the snow capped peaks of the Tongariro National Park. Bear witness to the Waikato river surging through a chasm and exploding down the Huka Falls.

Northbound on forest roads, billowing steam announces our arrival in Wai-O-Tapu, with its famous Champagne Pool, Artist's Palette and Lady Knox Geyser. Witness nature's fiery geothermal spirit: geysers, bubbling mud pools, and other evidence of subterranean alchemy.

Next it's north to Rotorua and the authentic living Maori village that has existed at Whakarewarewa for generations, where we can taste a Hangi: a Maori feast traditionally cooked over hot stones in the ground.

The shores of Lake Rotorua are where we relax and take in the view of Mokoia Island, famed in the tale of Hinemoa and Tutanekai. You're free to visit Government Gardens and its excellent museum, explore beautiful St Faith's Church, or look for last-minute, original souvenirs before we are homeward bound.
