Paradise Valley Springs Wildlife Park
Paradise Valley Springs is Rotorua's Must See Wildlife Park. A superbly presented New Zealand Trout, Bird and Wildlife park, along with a pride of African Lions. Our Park is recognised internationally as being of the highest quality and is beautifully maintained.
Paradise Valley Springs is an immaculate wildlife sanctuary set amongst stunning native New Zealand bush. Wander along the accessible walkways at your own pace, feeding the wildlife as you go. The circuit follows much of the Trout filled Ngongotaha Stream and low fences mean lots of interaction with our Wildlife. Solid walkways mean easy access for everyone in all types of weather.
New Zealand Wildlife
Paradise Valley Springs is home to several varieties of animals found wild around the country. Deer, Oppossums, Pigs, Thar (goats) Wallabies and more. At Paradise Valley Springs you can get up close to feed much of our Wildlife in their natural habitat.
Rainbow and Brown Trout
A fantastic underwater viewing cave provides a great opportunity to observe the Trout up close as well as in our crystal clear Trout pools. Approximately 20,000 wild Trout also spawn in our stream annually. Trout food is available from our shop. Also see huge native freshwater Eels.
Friendly Farm Animals
The Streamside Farmwalk is a very lively place where you are able to meet some friendly Farm Animals - Alpacas, Donkeys, Goats and Sheep may be handfed.
Native Birds
Visit our cheeky South Island alpine parrots the Kea in their walk-through enclosure, and see native parakeets the Kakariki. Our Wetlands showcases both native and introduced water birds. Black Swans glide elegantly through the misty waters, as Ducks dive and play to get their food. At Paradise Valley Springs, you can often see and hear wild native New Zealand Bellbirds, Tui, Kereru (native wood pigeon), Fantails, Tomtits and many more.
Elevated Treetops Walk
Our Rainforest Treetops Canopy Walk winds through a secluded area on the edge of the Mamaku Ranges - up to 6 metres off the ground in places. Signage helps to identify many of our native trees, as well as their traditional uses by the Maori people.
Pure Spring Water
Paradise Valley Springs has its own natural freshwater Spring, Te Waireka meaning Sweet Water. Visitors are invited to touch and taste pure New Zealand Spring Water straight from the natural Spring. We bottle 'Paradise Pure' Spring Water on site and this is available for purchase.
African Lion Pride
Discover The Pride of Paradise - our Lion Pride. Their specially designed enclosure allows visitors to get very close to these wild animals. At times, we have gorgeous Lion Cubs available for patting - a fantastic experience.
Our exciting Lion Feeding is held at 2.30pm every day.
Paradise Valley Springs is open every day of the year from 8am to dark, with last entry at 5pm. Situated a few minutes from central Rotorua. Suitable for independent visitors or large groups with plenty of parking.
