If you can ride a bike you can ride the Twin Coast Rail Trail! Pou Herenga Tai from Kaikohe to Okaihau. This section of the cycleway is built on an old rail corridor, is 20 kilometres long and features an 80m rail tunnel dating back to 1915.
We pick you up in Paihia and take you to Kaikohe, where we fit you out with bike and helmet drop you off at the start of the trail and pick you up at the end. You set the pace.
Twin Coast Cycle Trail
Enjoy the Twin Coast Cycle Trail with 20 kilometres of trail for all ages & fitness levels. It is 2 to 3 hours of easy riding through rural views and native bush. Its gentle gradient and smooth surface makes it an easy ride for cyclists of all ages and fitness levels.
We anticipate that rides will take approximately 2 to 3 hours. (Though you can do it much quicker if you would like)
It passes through the heartland of the Far North giving you extensive rural views out to the Hokianga in the west, Lake Omapere and farmland to the east. Go back in time when riding through the 80m rail tunnel dating back to 1915.. Beautiful bush and farm scenery welcomes you all around while you pedal your way.

- Route suggestions given to suit individual abilities.
- All mountain bikes have front suspension.
- All cycles are 21 speed.
We also have cycles available for day hire and Bed & Breakfast accommodation.
There are two options for the Cycle Tour:
- Cycleway self guided tour
- Bike hire only.
Pick up at 9am in Paihia, return at 2.30pm.
