Your trip starts with a pickup in Havelock which is 50 minutes from Nelson, 25 minutes from Blenheim, where you will register and get fitted for your adventure ahead. Once wet suits and life jackets are on you will head to the entry point of the Pelorus River. Before boarding the boats, you will be briefed on safety conduct on the river and ready yourself for the experience ahead. From here, hop on board your vessel and start the descent down the beautiful river used in the filming of the movie The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

Once you reach the location of the filming, take a short walk to where it all happened and learn what went on during 9 days in December 2011 while filming. Then continue on down the river talking about other points of interest; with history on the milling of the forest and mining of the gold in the surrounding areas. End your trip at Totara flat and from here, head back to Havelock.
