The world renowned all day option takes you in superb scenery, deep in the heart of the glacier. The excellent step-cutting skills of your guide allow you to travel through the most spectacular and challenging glacier terrain imaginable, satisfying even the most ardent of adventurers. We'll take you further, into the most spectacular ice falls and guarantee the most extensive and rewarding glacier adventure available. Your full-day Franz Josef Glacier Adventure also includes entry to the Glacier Hot Pools, the perfect place to relax and unwind after your day on the glacier.

After being fitted out with all your equipment at our company office, a ten minute bus ride takes you to within 2.5 kilometer (1.5 miles) of the glacier, where you enjoy a short bush walk through regenerating rainforest, regrouping in the glacier valley.

You then proceed to the front of the glacier (2.5 kilometers), with your guide calling stops along the way to explain the unique features of the glacier and glacier valley. Here you strap on a set of Ice-Talonz, accessing the terminal face of the glacier for up to 6 hours of pure adventure.

The scenery is spectacular, and with a total of six hours on the ice, you could find yourself in all manner of situations, from squeezing through tight blue crevasses to Franz Shuffling down near vertical walls of ice. Gaining confidence as you go you will venture through some of the most stunning and challenging terrain imaginable.

Your full-day hike also includes entry to the Glacier Hot Pools. A haven of natural tranquility, the Glacier Hot Pools are the perfect place to relax and unwind after your hike. The pools are conveniently located in the heart of Franz Josef township and are open from 12 noon to 10pm year-round. (Last entry at 9pm.)
