Sit back and enjoy a relaxing day tour into the Waitaki Valley, experiencing top wines and locally produced food from the region, while we will take care of all the driving. The Waitaki Taster can be joined (and departed) from either Dunedin or Oamaru to suit your travel plans.
Wine & Food: A Taste for Everyone
After pickups, the tour makes its first stop at Whitestone Cheese in Oamaru. Here you will enjoy a tea or coffee along with a tasting of a selection of locally produced, award winning cheeses. Take the five minute self guided tour to see how the cheeses are made from the highest quality local ingredients and take time to peruse the shop, where the many awards that Whitestone Cheese has won are proudly displayed.
The Vinters Drop Kurow
Our first wine tasting of the day is at the Vintner's Drop in Kurow offers a selection of wines from the Ostler Vineyard. Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Riesling are the aromatic wines you will taste here, boasting unique tastes and scents sourced from a spectacular climate.
Both lunch and wine tastings are included at the next stop on the itinerary, Kurow Winery. Here you will sample a variety of both Kurow Village and Pasquale wines and enjoy a fantastic platter lunch. Much of the platter utilises local ingredients, once again showcasing the remarkable climate and growing conditions of the region. Wine sales are available here by the glass to complement your lunch.
After lunch the tour heads back south to Birdlands wine bar in historic Oamaru. A selection of Brother Adam, Bobbing Creek and Rippon wines rounds off your fantastic Waitaki Taster experience and still leaves you enough time in the afternoon to explore Historic Oamaru and its nearby environs at your leisure, before dropping you to our Oamaru or Dunedin departure point.
