Experience 2.5 hours of incredible rafting amongst spectacular scenery on Rangitata River, one of New Zealand's most exciting stretches of white water! Depart from Christchurch and travel two hours south-west to the river base with an early lunch on arrival (approximately 10:30am). Take this opportunity to get to know everyone. You will receive a briefing for the day's activities and next it's time to get your safety and comfort equipment on for the two and a half hour white-water rafting adventure of a lifetime! The first half hour you will raft on Grade 1 flat water. Here you will have a full safety brief and practical training will be given. The rapids then build in a natural progression to the intense Grade 4 and 5 sections where the full volume of the river narrows to a pinch. After that there is often a chance for white water swimming and an optional leap from the famous "Jump Rock". You will return back to the river base for hot showers and a relaxed traditional barbecue will complete your fantastic day. |
