Our current Winter cruise times are as follows:

Saturday Evening: 6.30 p.m. - 9.30 p.m.

Sunday Midday: 12.00 - 2.00 p.m.

The Opawa River runs through fields, vineyards and olive groves and eventually into The Wairau River, close to the Wairau Bar and the entrance to the sea. The Opawa is a particularly scenic river, sometimes tree-lined but more often
with open views of the surrounding countryside. The river has a history of flooding so there are now high stop-banks on either side – fortunately however, the top deck of The River Queen comfortably looks out over these banks, affording some glorious views across Marlborough.

Marlborough is renowned for its vineyards and, increasingly, for its olive groves. The Opawa River glides past both, as well as ordinary farms and countryside. The Mount Riley winery is situated very close to our usual turning point on the evening cruise, and for this reason – as well as because the’re good wines – we stock the Mount Riley Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. We also hold an unusal wine produced by Mount Riley – a sparkling Sauvignon, called Savee. If you’re in the mood for something light and sparkling, its certainly worth a try. Indeed all our wines are from small to medium-sized local Marlborough wineries, specially chosen to offer you a selection of the regions finest wines.

A little further down the river, close to Hardings Bend, sits a small, locally run olive grove. We use this olive oil, alongside one or two other premium local extra virgin olive oils, in all our cooking and food preparation.
