Ocean Eco Tours Overnight live-aboard tours Bay of Islands experience and covers a wide range of scenic and marine diversity. Anchorages and a sunset side excursion are selected and timed to provide the best opportunities for scenic walks, snorkelling, kayaking, wildlife and photography.
Ocean Eco Tours specialise in visiting the more remote and less developed Department of Conservation Islands and Coastal Reserves with small groups we explore The Bay of Islands Maritime Park.
Our Route
- Outward bound towards Cape Brett via Te Rawhiti inlet,
the eastern outer islands and Albert Channel.
- Sunset side excursion to Cape Brett Light House and "The Hole in the Rock"(Motukokako Island).
- Overnight anchorge (usually) Urupukapuka Island.
- Return cruise via Waewaetorea Passage and Okahu Island.

- Twin-lagoon's, Motuarohia Island - DOC wildlife Sanctuary.
- Waiwhapuha Bay, Motorua Island - DOC scenic Reserve.
- Deep Water Cove, Cape Brett - DOC Coastal reserve.
Our Boat
"Souvenir" is a traditional New Zealand 40 ton Coastal Vessel, built of timber in 1956, she spent the first 50 years of her working life in our Southern Oceans.
Now Northland based and refitted to provide overnight accommodation for up to 8 guests, she's equipped with ocean kayaks, snorkel gear and a 4mtr support boat.
Exploring the Bay of Island's Maritime Park with auxiliary sails and her original Gardner engine." Souvenir" is mammal friendly, creates little noise, consumes minimal fuel and leaves a very small wake.
Included
- Snorkel gear, kayak's, binoculars, handouts, guides etc.
- Meals-Evening BBQ- home made hamburger's, fresh salads.
Breakfast- Muesli and fruit.
- Onboard accommodation - linen bedding.
Departs Mon-Wed-Sat (Yes we will sail with 1 or 2 People).
Ex. Paihia or Russell 10.30 am - Returns (next day 11.30am).
