Destinations
Libertas II can be found at different bases throughout the year, all offering a spectacular range of scenic destinations and fishing hotspots within easy reach. You decide where you'd like to go and the kind of experience you'd like to have and we'll arrange the rest.
Auckland
From Auckland you can explore dozens of picturesque islands in the Hauraki Gulf, from popular holiday islands Waiheke and Kawau to wild and unpopulated outliers like Motukawao Islands. A two-night trip could take you out to Great Barrier Island or picturesque Te Kouma Harbour on the Coromandel Peninsula.
Bay of Islands
From December to April Libertas II is based at Opua Marina in the Bay of Islands. From here you can explore the magnificent harbours, islands and secret bays of the Bay of Islands and Northland coast. Many famous fishing spots, including the Cavalli Islands, Whangaroa Harbour and Cape Karikari, are nearby and the renowned Three Kings is a highly recommended five-night trip.
Catering
Libertas II offers a full range of catering options. We can take care of all provisioning, catering and on-board cooking for you. You may wish to supply your own catering or provision and prepare your own meals - or a combination of all these. Along with a fully equipped galley and on-board barbecue, Libertas II has a dishwasher, a watermaker, three fridges and freezers and an icemaker.
Leave the catering to us and we'll ensure no shortage of fresh, delicious food, excellent wine and other refreshments throughout your trip. Our on-board cook will prepare and serve fish and other seafood as you catch it, accompanied by the best fresh seasonal produce.
A typical two-night Libertas charter from Auckland might consist of:
- A helicopter flight from Mechanics Bay to Mountain Landing in the Bay of Islands to join Libertas II
- Snapper fishing, scallop diving and swimming in the Cavalli Islands
- Dinner of spanking fresh seafood and a night anchored in a quiet bay
- A day of open water marlin fishing out at sea
- A night at Mountain Landing's luxurious Boathouse, dining on fresh fish and swapping stories around the outdoor fireplace
