Discover Waitomo Glowworm Caves (return from Auckland)

Travel south from Auckland through the rich farmland of the Waikato on to the famous Glowworm Caves at Waitomo.

Take the opportunity to explore two of Waitomo's famous caves. This offers the most in underground exploration, with guided tours throughout the labyrinth of limestone caves, view sparkling Glowworm Caves by boat and the tranquility of the Aranui Caves.

The spectacular natural "decorations" of stalactites, stalagmites and sculptures have developed over thousands of years and are the result of water dripping from the roof of the cave or flowing over the exposed limestone walls.

Enjoy a guided tour through the long galleries and lofty chambers of the World Famous Glowworm Caves. Your tour continues with a boat ride through the Glowworm Grotto, illuminated by thousands of tiny lights from the glow worms suspended from the cave ceiling.

It is now time to relax and have some lunch before saying goodbye to this Natural Wonder as we head North back to Auckland.
