HANG GLIDING
New Zealand’s ONLY aerotow park for hang gliding – we can take you higher than anybody in the country – over 5000ft of adrenaline and beauty. Feel the wind in your face drink in panoramic mountain and sea views. Experience the effortless beauty of silent flying. At Sky Adventures we use the latest tandem aero-towing techniques to provide the safest, most enjoyable experience possible. "Tandem" hang-gliders are built for two and operated by an experienced pilot. You will be suited up in your own "pod" harness and helmet and attached to the hang glider.The flight length varies from 15-30min depending on weather conditions on the day and how "exciting" a flight you want. We can drink in the atmosphere and glide gently through the sky, or we can show you a little of what modern hang gliders are capable of, and carve up the sky. At the end of the flight you will land safely back at the airfield. Skim the wheels through the grass as you land – you won’t believe what you have just done.
MICROLIGHTS
Come flying in our factory built state-of-the-art microlights. The ONLY place in New Zealand were you can experience the thrill of open air flight and in one of NZ’s most beautiful areas – The Abel Tasman National Park. Feel the rush of wind as you speed down the runway and rise effortlessly into the air. Fly high over Motueka township, see the fishing boats bobbing at anchor at the port as the sun sparkles on the water. Join the seabirds as we descend along the sand flats, and then climb high for the unforgettable vista of the Abel Tasman National Park as it stretches away into a hazy horizon and Farewell Spit.We gradually descend along the blue green inlets of Torrent Bay and the track the yellow sand beaches from the Anchorage to Marahau. Here we cut inland to fly over the Marahau saddle and then back to the airfield over the apple orchards of Riwaka. These aircraft feature a hang gliding wing and weight shift operation, very much like a traditional hang glider, but powered by a Rotax aircraft engines for optimum safety and reliability. We have experienced professional pilots. The Abel Tasman flight lasts 35-40min of breathtaking exhileration.
