Waiorau: Waters of the Cardrona
The historic Cardrona Valley, first used by Maori on their way to the pounamu (greenstone) rivers and then a gold mining area in the 1800's, runs between the Queenstown and Wanaka areas. The road cuts through the Crown Range providing not only stunning views of the Crown and Criffle Ranges and beyond but also access between the two areas.
Cardrona is home to a unique ski resort in winter and world class mountain biking terrain in summer. You can simply relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings of the Cardrona Valley or, if you are energetic, there are countless local activities to choose from - including hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, quad-biking, skiing and snowboarding as well as fishing and hunting.
Your Hosts
Your hosts, Blyth and Ann, have extensive background in the hospitality industry including a number of years in some of New Zealand's most well known tourist resorts and have now settled in the beautiful Central Otago area. They invite you to join them to enjoy the wonderful ambience of their homestead and warmest hospitality.
Blyth and Ann are happy to escort you on your Central Otago experiences. Blyth is an experienced fisherman, hunter and outdoors enthusiast. Ann can guide you to local activities - best shopping and wineries being top of the list!
Accommodation
The guest bedrooms have access to private decks with either mountain or garden views. The rooms are individually decorated with iconic New Zealand themes, including artworks from local artists. The finest linen and goosedown underlays, duvets, quilts and pillows are used to dress the extra comfortable beds. All bathrooms have under floor heating, heated mirrors, towelling robes, hair dryers and boutique bathroom products.
Harakeke room - Flax room
Decorated in warm natural colours reflecting the Central Otago terrain – King/ twin single with a 3rd single bed option; private bathroom with spa bath; TV and DVD; wireless access; garden views.
Kahurangi room - Blue room
The colours of the rivers and lakes are reflected in the beautiful peacock blue and turquoise tones of the room – Queen Bed; ensuite bathroom; TV and DVD; wireless access – garden and mountain views.
Hukapapa Room - Falling snow room
Sophisticated decor in contemporary soft grey and cream colour scheme - Queen bed; ensuite bathroom; TV and DVD; wireless access; garden and mountain views.
