Vartamana Retreat in Waitakere, Auckland, offers healing spaces, resources, practitioners and accommodation in a peaceful and welcoming environment where a deep level of care and acceptance is our promise to you.
Experience a range of therapeutic massages, and specifically appointed facilities to relax and restore your mind and body. This range of treatments and experience is not often found elsewhere. Dianne is a qualified practitioner of the Trager Approach.
Guest Accommodation
Vartamana offers 3 large, comfortable bedrooms with either twin beds or a king bed. The generous bathrooms offer the flexibility of private facilities for two or shared facilities for your family or group. There is a large communal room with a refreshment and mini-kitchen. In this communal space there is the sauna and plenty of flexibility for sitting and relaxing or for use as a therapy or meeting room. From this room you can access the outdoor dining and expansive deck area, spa pool and swimming pool.
We can cater for groups with simple, tasty and delicious meals, vegetarian if preferred. Produce will be from our own vegetable garden or local organic produce wherever possible.
The Shubha Room
This beautiful, generous space, with its stunning leadlight window, is available for a variety of group activities. For example: yoga, tai chi, healing/therapy training workshops, dance and movement work-play, group meditation or chant/singing and other gatherings.
Swimming Pool
This large pool is a heated salt water pool, allowing a few extra months of use in the year. If you haven't experienced a salt water pool you will find that it feels extra good on the skin and eyes.
Spa Pool
A six person spa with all the jets and bubbles you would need. It is always on and available. Great for a late night soak whilst observing the night sky!
The Sauna
This is a 4 person 'Far Infrared Sauna' This 'dry' sauna replicates and resonates with the body's natural energy band. A soft radiant heat benefitting stress relief, pain relief, cardiovascular and circulatory conditioning, deep detox, weight loss, improvements to skin, joint mobility and immune function.
Locality & Activities
Vartamana is just 25 minutes from downtown Auckland, in close proximity to a variety of well maintained bush walks in the magnificent Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. Bethells Beach is the closest of the West Coast beachs.
Some of the most popular hiking tracks such as Cascade Kauri/Auckland City Walk, Fairy Falls and the Waitakere Dam are all within 5 to 7 minutes drive away. Rugged Bethells/Te Henga Beach is about 12 minutes by car. And if you are intending to take on the challenge of the 'Hillary Trail', Vartamana could provide accommodation for you or your group.
Two golf courses are within 5 minutes drive - Redwood Park Golf Course in Swanson and Waitakere Golf Course in Cascade Kauri Park.
Swanson Railway Station (& Cafe) is less than 3 minutes away, linking you to Eden Park & the Auckland CBD.
