When you stay at Kefalonia, you, your friends, family, colleagues or contemporaries have the exclusive use of the property and grounds for the duration of your booking. You will be met by your hosts, Bruce and Daphne Ruscoe, who will show you around and answer your questions, and then leave. You won't see them again unless you ask for them.
Situated in the midst of a huge, extremely private garden, the main homestead features several living spaces, five bedrooms, multiple bathrooms and even room for the staff. Built in the classic New Zealand 'luxury homestead' style, that pays homage to both European and American design, Kefalonia is bright, sunny, welcoming and luxurious, whilst retaining the personality of a family home.
Guest Facilities
Throw a log into the wood-burning fire, select an interesting book off the shelf, sink into the Italian leather sofas and just enjoy the Kefalonia style of life. There’s room for those who want to have a social night to remember with friends, as well as plenty of space for those who want to cherish those quiet magic times. In the loft games room others can catch up on a movie or enjoy a game of pool.
Adjacent to the spectacular formal entry is the large formal lounge which is perfect for entertaining, or just to use as a parents' retreat. Included is a formal dining area ideal for social engagements. The formal dining table seats ten people, and is the perfect situation to have long slow celebration of life, punctuated of course, with good food and wine.
The kitchen is large, well laid-out and modern. There’s plenty of room to cater for groups of all sizes, meet the needs of your Chef, offering the convenience of the latest appliances. While Kefalonia is self-catered there is also the option to call in the caterers. They have one of New Zealand's most famous caterers on tap; Ruth Pretty Catering are just a phone call away....
The full sized, fully fenced tennis court is a joy to play on, and the 11 mtr heated pool is maintained daily. In one corner there is also a basketball hoop and an adventure playground for the children.
There is a seperate Media Room with a 46 inch LCD TV with Sky, connections for Home Theatre System/Playstation/XBox and computer input.
The luxurious bedrooms retain all their original elegance with all the modern conveniences. Our interior decorators have used fine fabrics, furnishings and colour to accentuate the old world glamour of the rooms.
The entire estate is fenced off and the driveway is protected by a security gate, remotely controlled by keypad or the house.
The magnificent Kefalonia grounds can also play host to helicopter transportation for that direct flight, or transfer from local airports. We can arrange this for you, or bring your own chopper.
The Glorious Kapiti Coast
Several townships make up the Kapiti Coast - Paekakariki, known for its resident artists, the rural town of Otaki, Waikanae - a peaceful yet growing town - and Paraparaumu, the region’s largest town with excellent facilities. Travel through the coastal area while enjoying views of Kapiti Island.
Stunning beaches, bush-clad hills, and an island nature reserve. Visitors can explore the towering Tararua Ranges to the east and within 30 minutes be swimming at one of the many beaches in the west.
