Your hosts Barry and Jan warmly welcome you to their luxury apartments situated at beautiful Waihau Bay, in the Bay of Plenty. This safe and sandy beach is considered by many to be the best on the East Cape. It is a great place for a family beach holiday, with a lovely wide flat sandy beach, with no rips- so perfect for swimming! It is also an excellent beach for kayaking in the surf, and we have a range of kayaks available to suit the whole family.
The area offers excellent fishing and diving, along with beautiful scenery for nature lovers, or those who just want to get away and relax. The apartments are situated in a small coastal bay, with all required amenities immediately to hand, while still isolated enough to be removed from the hustle and bustle of modern day life.
Beautiful Waihau Bay is located a 1.5 hour drive from Opotoki, and an easy 3 hour drive from Gisborne. On your arrival, settle in and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine, beer or juice, whilst enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and meeting your hosts.

Accommodation
Accommodation comprises two self contained motel units and a stand alone 'Kiwi' bach. The Units have separate bedrooms and will sleep up to seven people, and the bach will sleep eight.
We provide upon request either continental or fully cooked breakfasts, dinners and picnic lunches. Jan loves cooking and her specialty is seafood which is so abundant in this area. A selection of wines and beer are available as an accompaniment to your meal.
Each accommodation has a fully equipped kitchen, separate bedrooms, TV, DVD, Movies , outdoor furniture and BBQ facilities.
The sections are fully fenced, and are located just across the road from the magnificent beach.
Fishing
Superb land based fishing is available for your enjoyment almost on the doorstep of your apartment, with your choice of cast or rock fishing. Or, if you like line, or big game fishing, why don't you book our charter boat for the day.
Our charter boat has a purpose built 1.5 metre gangplank with hand rails that can be added to the front of the boat, so land based fisherman can be safely dropped off and picked up onto the rocks at Cape Runaway and other areas around the cape.
From December to May, as water temperatures rise, the Waihau Bay Fishing Club is Host to several game fishing tournaments. The club provides weigh-in facilities and a wide three boat ramp.
Diving
In 2002 the American based Scuba Schools International, which also operates in New Zealand, presented Barry with a Platinum Pro Instructor 5000 award for his achievements, which is the most meritorious award in Diving.
The East Cape of New Zealand is known for its beautiful diving scenery and abundance of crayfish. Because of the regions remoteness, the area is relatively untouched.
If you have always wanted to learn about diving, then talk to Barry no matter what your experience with diving. He has dived the area extensively, and with our charter boat, will take you to the best spots.
The area is also well known for quality diving. A variety of seafood, including mussels paua, and crayfish is available for
both free and tank divers.
Kayaks
We have a range of kayaks available to suit the whole family. If you have always wanted to try kayaking, then talk to Barry, and no matter what your experience, he will have you confidently paddling in no time.
