Waiteti Lakeside Lodge in Rotorua, is a unique 5 room lakefront and riverside retreat situated on the mouth of the Waiteti Stream, and the shores of beautiful Lake Rotorua. Nestled amongst sub tropical gardens, this peaceful hideaway is only 10 minutes drive from Rotorua City, yet secluded from traffic noise and sulphur fumes.
Imagine yourself Trout Fishing, feeding the wild fowl and exploring Lake Rotorua on a kayak and simply relaxing in our luxurious accommodation. Set in park-like grounds that extend to the waters edge Waiteti Lodge has a private jetty and boat launching ramp.
Your hosts, Brian and Val Blewett built their home, Waiteti Lakeside Lodge, from cedar and Hinuera stone with Pine wood panelling and native Rimu stairs which lead to the private guest floor above.
Another accommodation option is also offered, being a 1930’s character cottage made of solid heart Rimu fully restored and self-contained, adjacent to Waiteti Lodge on the lake edge. At Waiteti Lodge we also have a larger option, the self-contained Waiteti Cottage which is ideal for families.
Accommodation
Waiteti Lakeside Lodge has a truly unique location on the shore of Lake Rotorua. The timber and natural stone lodge offers luxury private accommodation in traditional style amongst a quiet and tranquil setting. There are five comfortable bedrooms in the lodge, three with en-suites and the other two rooms share a bathroom. Children over 10 years are welcome in the Lodge rooms.
The en-suite rooms have televisions and the rooms open out onto balconies to enjoy spectacular views of the lake and the mouth of the Waiteti Stream where you can also fish for trout off the back lawn. In addition there is a private guest's lounge with satellite television, video, library, pool table along with tea and coffee making facilities and include a cooked or continental breakfast.
All rooms have wireless internet, a fridge, safe, iron and ironing board, electric blanket, heated towel rail, hair dryer and toiletries, shaver outlet, telephone and radio alarm clock. A laundry service is also provided for a small fee.
All of the rooms are tastefully decorated and fully equipped with fresh linen and soft fluffly towels.
The Great Kiwi Bach
Where else can you catch a Rainbow Trout from your front lawn? Waiteti Lakeside Lodge and "The Great Kiwi Bach" of course! Newly restored inside and out this 1930s cottage is tastefully decorated to retain all the old features of a time gone by.
Self-contained and fully furnished with separate entrances, The Great Kiwi Bach can sleep up to 8 people as it can be let as two separate cottages or for one large group, each having two bedrooms, lounge, TV, bathroom and kitchenette. A cot can be supplied for babies by arrangement.
Waiteti Cottage
At Waiteti Lakeside Lodge we also have the luxury of choice offering something for everyone. Our self-contained ‘Waiteti Cottage’ is a charming feature of our property here on the shores of Lake Rotorua.
This 3 bedroom house is ideal for 2-3 couples or small families and has a balcony looking out over Waiteti Stream and partial views of Lake Rotorua. There are 2 double rooms and a twin single room as well.
Other facilities for Waiteti Cottage include a television, separate toilet, shower and bathroom, toiletries, heated towel rail, safe parking, fridge/freezer, stove, washing machine, heating, electric blankets, dining table, wireless internet access, torch, bedroom furniture and wardrobes to unpack and feel at home, and tea and coffee supplies.
Fishing
Brian Blewett, your host, is a member of The Rotorua Professional Fishing Guides Association, and Fishing and Hunting is a speciality, whether you want to fly fish from the property straight into the Waiteti Stream, or go further a-field to more remote locations. The options are endless and with an experienced local guide Miles Rushmer also on hand Waiteti Lodge can organise it all for you. Fishing, Hunting and ocean big game fishing from Tauranga are all available for guests at Waiteti Lodge. Brian also enjoys taking guests on a scenic cruise to Mokoia Island’s wildlife sanctuary with its endangered native birds.
