Guest Accommodation
The old world grace of the house has been enhanced by our recent renovations and our furnishings and decor complement its elegant and gracious ambience. Each of our three light-filled guest rooms, all located on the first floor, has its own unique style and character. Each has a spacious ensuite bathroom, relaxing sitting area, a king or super-king bed, Sky TV, internet access and tea and coffee making facilities. Included is our generous in-room continental breakfast.
Let your senses take in the detail of our decor; from the beautiful Italian tiles and the Villeroy & Boch fittings to the luxuriously comfortable beds and finest Egyptian cotton linen, we have taken every care to make the rooms sumptuous and comfortable.
Our Rooms
Jasmine Room - Light and sunny, the Jasmine Room overlooks the garden. To the west it has a view towards the harbour and is often treated to wonderful sunsets. Decorated in subtle, neutral shades, the Jasmine Room has an air of tranquillity and contemporary ease and style.
Earl Grey Room - Decorated in classic style in a subtle, restful green, the Early Grey Room is large, light and sunny. The elegance of the Earl Grey Room is enhanced by comfortable furnishings including a leather sofa, table and chairs and coffee table.
Darjeeling Room - This large room looks out to the west and the warm tones of the decor are enhanced by the richness of the afternoon light. Settle in on the luxurious super-king bed or on the sofa and enjoy the rich ambiance.
Your Hosts:
Your hosts Bernadette and Jonathan look forward to welcoming you and making your stay in Auckland an enjoyable and memorable experience. Bernadette grew up in Sydney and has lived in England, Europe and South Africa, while Jonathan and grew up in Auckland and the Bay of Plenty, and has also lived in England, Australia and, having lived and studied in Germany for over a decade, is fluent in German.
We love living in Auckland and enjoy the ambience, diversity and dynamism of Ponsonby. We live downstairs and share our space with 2 cats, Nefertiti and Ebony, who can usually be found curled up by the fire or sunning themselves in the garden.
Having spent a year lovingly renovating and restoring Ponsonby House, a traditional Auckland villa built in 1912, we opened our doors to welcome guests at the end of June 2011.
