McCormick House is a luxury five star Bed and Breakfast located in Picton, and envelopes historic charm with every imaginable modern convenience. McCormick House was architecturally designed in 1914 for one of Picton's earliest Colonial settlers.
This gracious, welcoming home has been extensively and exquisitely restored, sympathetically retaining its beautiful, original native rimu timber panelling, staircase and fireplaces. Choose from three luxurious ensuite bedrooms, The Boatshed Room, The Captain's Room or The Palm Room.
The Palm Room
This special room features a luxurious king size four poster bed with 100% Egyptian cotton linen, double spa bath, and a private sun gallery.
The Italian marble and tiled, curved-wall ensuite has a multi-jet double shower, double basins,heated towel rail, hair drier and wall heater.100% Egyptian cotton linen, robes and towels,locally made soaps and toiletries are provided for your convenience.
Flat screen multi channel television with DVD, direct dial telephone and wireless internet, are all provided in your room.
Captain's Room
This room captures a romantic formal elegance and has a luxuriously appointed super king size bed or two super king singles.
100% Egyptian cotton linen and electric blankets are supplied. Relax in a large claw foot bath, set in your bedroom on a tiled pedestal, with private bush views. Alarm clock radio, direct dial telephone, TV, DVD, CD, and wireless internet are all provided in your room.
The fully tiled ensuite has a double size shower and heated towel rail, hair drier and wall heater.
The Boat Shed Room
This room features a New Zealand / Pacific theme, providing casual elegance.
The room has a luxurious queen size slat bed with 100% Egyptian cotton linen and electric blanket . A sunny bay window overlooks the private native garden and pétanque terrain.
Alarm clock radio, direct dial telephone, TV, DVD, CD and wireless internet are all provided in your room. The ensuite is fully tiled, with double size shower, heated towel rail, wall heater and hair drier. Local hand made natural soaps and toiletries are provided for your convenience.
Your hosts, Jeanne and Carl, specialise in leisurely gourmet breakfasts, of delicious local fare, including fresh eggs from their six chickens, along with organic herbs and fresh seasonal produce from the garden. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink with your hosts, featuring stunning Marlborough wines and delicious apertifs. A great time to discuss local dining options and activities for the next day.
Carl, a designer and maker of fine furniture, loves restoring early New Zealand colonial furniture and old wooden clinker boats. He enjoys creating smaller craft items in his workshop from locally sourced recycled native timbers, which can be purchased by guests. Carl is happy to arrange shipping worldwide on request.

Jeanne and Carl are genuine, fifth generation New Zealand, South Island Kiwis, having travelled extensively throughout New Zealand and internationally.
