Only 1.5 hours drive from Christchurch, this self-contained lodge comfortably sleeps 9 and is equipped with a spacious, fully equipped kitchen ideal for hosting large groups.You can choose to either cater for yourself or have meals provided.
Guest Accommodation and Facilities
Peel Forest Lodge can comfortably accomomdate up to 9 people. The lodge sleeps 6 in the 3 bedrooms (2 queen, one twin) , and there is a sleep-out with beds for a further 3 people (1 double, 1 single).
The log cabin was build to the family's design 12 years ago, using locally grown logs. Milled timber from the How family property has been used for cabinetry and flooring.
The lounge has a large open fire. Sit back and relax after your day's activities and enjoy a glass of New Zealand wine while your host Pennie prepares you a delicious evening meal from local game and produce.
The peaceful secluded location blends in complete harmony with the natural timbers, and the combination ensures visitors come away feeling like they really have been immersed in nature for the duration of their stay, both indoors and out.
Activities
Peel Forest Lodge is a great place to escape to, and just relax doing absolutely nothing! It is the ideal setting to just sit back and enjoy the ambience of the surrounding native forest and bird life. Peel Forest is a convenient base for exploring the region and it's activities, whether they be a Grade 5 rafting trip or a quiet stroll to enjoy the local flora and fauna.
If you feel like exploring the local district there are a number of activities to keep you busy. There are Rafting and Kayaking adventures close to Peel Forest Lodge,and the Rangitata River, which offers some of the best salmon fishing in New Zealand, is only 5 minutes away.
There are a number of lovely walks and tramps around the area, and a climb to the top of Mt Peel will reward you with incredible views of the Canterbury Plains.
Peel Forest Lodge can also provide half and full day Horse Treks and have horses suitable for all age groups and all levels of experience.
