Situated right on the beach at Paraparaumu with stunning views of Kapiti Island, this charming hostel began life as a hotel in 1923 and has been lovingly restored to its former glory with oak furniture and historic photos of the area. Barnacles offers a variety of room types, many with sea views (please request sea view when booking). Stay at the beach and enjoy the seaside, take a trip to Kapiti Island and the local nature reserves.
What to do:
We are less than an hour north of Wellington. Take a boat trip to the bird sanctuary at Kapiti Island - the ferry leaves from beach in front of Barnacles. Local attractions are the world famous Southwards Car Museum, the world class Paraparaumu Beach Golf Course and Lindale Tourist Park.
