Lake Rotoroa Lodge. Golden beaches to snow-capped mountains, wilderness to bustling cafés, heart-stopping adventure to heart-resting relaxation

Lake Rotoroa Lodge

Lodge, Luxury Accommodation, Retreat - Nelson Lakes
Surrounded by the finest brown trout fly fishing, Lake Rotoroa Lodge sits in the midst of what might truly be described as one of the ultimate locations, whatever your objectives and desires might be: golden beaches to snow-capped mountains, wilderness to bustling cafés, or heart-stopping adventure to heart-resting relaxation. There are few places in the world where all of this and more can be enjoyed within little more than an hour's radius.

About the Lodge

Along a quiet country lane that winds its way through the Gowan River valley lies Lake Rotoroa Lodge. It is nestled at the northern tip of New Zealand's spectacular Southern Alps. This isolated and unspoiled location is surrounded by the forests of the Nelson Lakes National Park. Lake Rotoroa is considered the jewel in the crown of the park: its tranquil waters reflect a magnificent vista of snow-capped mountains and lush native bush.

In 2000 Lake Rotoroa Lodge earned a great accolade when National Geographic Adventure magazine named it as one of the twenty-five greatest adventure destinations in the world. It also named Lake Rotoroa Lodge as one of the two finest trout fishing venues in the world.

From the moment you arrive at Lake Rotoroa Lodge, you will recognize that it is a unique and special place. As you take in our beautiful lake views and stunning wilderness vistas, the pressures of daily life fall away.

Guest Accommodation

The ten individual guest rooms, which have en-suite bathrooms, include brass beds replete with feather quilts. Add to that some eccentricities in the décor, artworks, fixtures and fittings and the result is a charming and comfortable New Zealand country house. All our rooms are individually furnished, but are equipped with the same facilities.

All rooms have en suite bathrooms with showers and under floor heated tiles. We have 110/240 volt shaving plugs in all bathrooms, hairdryers and nightlights. Each bathroom also has a full range of bathroom products handmade locally.

All of our rooms have wonderful views over the lake or mountains that surround us.

Food and Beverage

One of the key ingredients of a stay in a luxury lodge is the quality of the food and wines on offer. With breakfast and dinner served in our elegant dining room and lunch (if required) served in the bar (or as a gourmet picnic for those who venture away from the lodge), our chefs delight in designing and preparing meals for small numbers of discerning guests.

Add to that an extensive wine cellar, which showcases the finest, and world class, New Zealand and Australian wines and you should already be starting to enjoy your time with us.

We are always keen to try new wines at Lake Rotoroa Lodge and know that many of you will be too. Therefore we often have sample cases and bottles for all of us to enjoy and comment on - many of which will not appear on the wine list, but may appear on the bar or at dinner for your enjoyment.

Activities

Whatever your interests there are endless activities for our guests to enjoy, whether it be walking, birdwatching, golf, horse trekking, or whitewater rafting. You can indulge in a pampering with our masseuse, or visit the numerous potteries, glass works and wood sculptors of the region. Tours of internationally renowned New Zealand vineyards can also be arranged.

Staff and service

Our dedicated team will make you feel warmly welcome from the moment they greet you at the door to the moment they wave farewell to those who arrived as guests and left as friends.

During your stay you will be looked after by this small, friendly team, who will ensure that your individual needs are known and met. Each time. Every time. Your comfort and satisfaction is their only concern.
