In keeping with the vision of the restoration of a grand home, your hosts Sandra and John chose one of the founding homes of the historic township of Martinborough in one of New Zealand's finest wine growing regions. The Old Manse is the original home of the Presbyterian Ministers for the region.
"Our vision and reality have become one, and we have created a beautiful home with enchanted English style garden settings that nestle up to and buttress the surrounding vineyards. Sandra and I are delighted to welcome you to our dream, the creation of a grand home that we have called the 'Old Manse'.
Our home exudes all the tranquility, charm and opulence of a bygone era and we believe it is something special. We endeavour to make our guests' stay with us as pleasant and relaxing as possible."
Facilities
The Old Manse is an adult retreat with 6 individually decorated rooms; 5 queen-size bedrooms within the house and an adjoining building with a twin room, all with en-suite bathrooms. Your stay here includes either a cooked or a continental breakfast, and you can enjoy breakfast overlooking the adjoining vineyard.
The large dining room seats 10, and flows into the spacious but cosy living room, with its open fire for the winter and French doors for the summer. The living area opens to the house's croquet lawn, which continues around the house with beautiful English-style gardens, sporting an area for petanque, a gazebo and a spa pool. Back inside the entertainment includes Sky TV and a billiards room.
The Old Manse is in short walking proximity of many of Martinborough's best attractions, and very close to many others! The 18 hole golf course, antique stores, restaurants, tennis courts, wine tasting, trout and sea fishing, horse trekking, 4WD Quad bikes, vineyard walks, Cape Palliser seal colony, mountain biking, horse and carriage drives, hot air ballooning, canoeing, jet boat tours, clay bird shooting, and garden tours are sure to keep you busy and relaxed during your stay.
