Driftwood offers you elegant bach accommodation on a private 15 acre waterfront estate in the heart of the Bay of Islands. It is located on the prestigious Purerua Peninsular with views from the Cavali Islands to Russell. Kerikeri and it's vibrant cafe scene is only 20 minutes away.
The charm of Driftwood is in its' simplicity, offering guests staying in the bach or their guests in the beach huts a taste of real New Zealand living.
We are passionate about sharing our piece of paradise. Driftwood is available as a venue for intimate beach front weddings, we have a stunning bach for two,and the ability for our guests to host their friends or family in waterside beach huts.

About Driftwood
We have built a delightful Kiwiana cottage overlooking the vines and out to sea, brand new yet still charming with lovely Wallace Cotton linens and comfy furniture, it is located on our waterfront vineyard property Driftwood and can be rented from 2 nights to 2 months. The Bach is located close to the iconic white sand Tapuaetahi beach and still has its own more sheltered private inlet beach, hosting beach huts and boat launching facilities.
The Bach sleeps 2 people, in huge style. If you have an older family there is a bunk house on the beach, which has a queen bed and 2 bunks and is totally gorgeous! (featured in lots of brochures and magazines). All linens and towels are included and there is a washing machine. The kitchen is gleaming new but bach basic and the BBQ is more of the go!
The private beach offers pizza oven, dingies, boat launch for all but low low tide and great snapper and mullet fishing off the rocks! This is the perfect example of the classic Kiwi bach but for two. A charming hotel room in the heart of the country.
Our youngest daughter has horses on the property and is happy to offer guided rides to pristine white beaches for galloping and swimming on horse back. No charge, but a contribution to their feed is always appreciated!
Beach Huts - Crayfish Cottage
Crayfish Cottage is available to enjoy alfresco dining when you are staying at the bach, the pizza oven is a huge hit with guests on a summers evening. The beach huts are a wonderful compliment to the bach offering overflow accommodation and al fresco dining. As a venue Crayfish Cottage can be a romantic dining room for two on the water edge.

Having travelled extensively for many years Richard and Vanessa Owen realized not only was their home Driftwood quite unique... but that the best times they had travelling were when they were meeting people in their own homes. Driftwood is home to Richard, Vanessa and their family, they have opened their favourite places on this beautiful estate to fellow travellers.
