Driftwood Bed and Breakfast is a modern and luxurious bed and breakfast situated halfway between Wellington and Palmerston North. Built on the Te Horo Beach front, Driftwood enjoys panoramic views, west to Kapiti Island, north to the Wanganui coastline, and east to the Tararua Ranges.
Enjoy a walk along the beach, relax in the hot spa and fall asleep to the sound of the sea, then it's time for a delicious breakfast! The house is spacious and well-appointed, the guest lounge, dining room and music room invite you to just relax. Te Horo Beach offers a truly unique escape - We love the place and know you will too.
Guest Rooms
The Sea Room is stylishly furnished and offers a king size bed with all-cotton bed linen for the ultimate in comfort. The Hideaway Room is similarly fitted with two king single beds. The rooms offer TV/DVD for your personal use and modern ensuite bathrooms equipped with heated mirrors, heated towel rail, hair dryer and underfloor heating. The Sea Room opens onto a sun drenched deck and which leads down to a private walkway to the Te Horo beachfront.
The Hideaway Room is on the lower floor offering a uniquely private experience, allowing the guest to come and go from their private entrance.
Living and Dining
Creative continental breakfast of New Zealand fresh fruit and cereal, country preserves or home-made muffins offered daily. You can enjoy the company of other guests, or if preferred have a private breakfast on the deck outside your room.
Adjacent to the guest rooms is a spacious comfortable lounge area with a good supply of books and magazines - or if you're musical, a Yamaha grand piano and Hammond organ.
Views from the various decks offer serene Tararua Ranges outlook on one side, also lovely sea views both of the immediate Te Horo beach area and the always glorious Kapiti Island.
Your days could be spent walking along the beach or visit the local outlet shops in Otaki, the Lindale complex, Southward Museum, Nga Manu Nature Reserve or the many Kapiti Coast art and pottery studios. Day trips to Kapiti Island can be arranged, or drive into the nearby Tararua Ranges and take a walk in the bush.
At night, come home to dinner (by arrangement) then relax in the hot jacuzzi under the stars.
Your Hosts
Murray and Barbara Scott have been living on the Kapiti Coast area for many years, finally moving to and building at Te Horo Beach in 1997. Murray and Barbara have had wide experience in hospitality and caring for people. They have travelled widely and enjoy hosting guests from around the world at their Te Horo beachfront home. They are happy to share their extensive knowledge of both the local Kapiti Coast area and the wider New Zealand scene.
