Welcome to Kulnine Homestead, ideally located on the Kaikoura Coast between the Marlborough Vineyards and the highly acclaimed Whale watching in Kaikoura. Kulnine is a large elegantly furnished homestead originally built in 1868 that has been sympathetically renovated to provide the highest standards and comforts you would expect from any luxury accommodation.
Set in eight acres of established park like grounds and gardens, the homestead is nestled in the Kekerengu Valley and cradled beneath the inner Kaikoura Mountains to the shores of the Pacific Ocean creating a unique and tranquil setting.
Accommodation
Accommodation is available in the Homestead and in "The Cottage".
The Homestead offers two large double bedrooms each with their own ensuite, with only the highest quality linen and furnishings used to compliment this gracious homestead.
The Cottage is fully self contained and accommodates four people. Set in an olive grove with wide views and access to the Kekerengu River and Pacific Ocean.
Cuisine
Each morning Helen & John will provide a wonderful homestead style cooked breakfast either on the veranda overlooking the garden or in the warm ambience of the dinning room. To finish your day guests will be indulged with local seafoods, garden fresh greens, boutique wines plus the many complimentry delighters.
With restaurant backgrounds of over 25 years Helen & John are hosts extraordinaire. In the early evening prior to dinner they welcome a catch-up on the days activities over a complementary glass of local wine accompanied by a small delicacy that John has created from his vast 30 years experience as an international chef.
Picnic baskets are available on request, for beach and river walks.
Things to do
A renowned eco-tourism hot spot, Kaikoura is famous for it's whale watching and 'swimming with the dolphins' but Kaikoura offers that and much more. Other adventure activites shark cage diving, and seal swimming, bird watching and wildlife, scuba diving, snorkeling, sea kayaklng, surfing, walking, white water rafting, four wheel driving, flying, fishing, skiing, and snow boarding.
Weddings
Kulnine Homestead are delighted to open their home for weddings along with the services of Helen Cundall as a Marriage Celebrant. The Homestead setting is the ideal romantic backdrop for small and intimate weddings as well as for couples reconsidering marriage for the second time. Kulnine Homestead are able to offer a full package including:- Ceremony advice, menu planning, accommodation, garden setting service, flowers on your special day.
Kulnine is perfect for a weekend of fresh sea & country air, and your hosts John (your chef) and Helen delight in making your stay not only enjoyable, but memorable in the tranquility of Kulnine and the beautiful Kekerengu Valley.
