Bright and funky native bird works of art adorn the walls throughout the building reflecting the owners passion for New Zealand, in particular the West Coast. Communal areas are cosy, modern and tastefully decorated.
Things to Do
Hokitika is an excellent base from which to explore the fantastic surrounding scenery with the beach, lakes, mountains and places of historic interest within short travelling distances. The town has good service amenities with banks, restaurants, cinema, swimming pool and supermarket. Whether you are looking for adventure or relaxation there are plenty of options.
Hokitika is the Arts and Crafts capital of The Coast, and the best place in New Zealand to watch skilled greenstone carvers at work. It is a hub for artists and craftspeople and there are plenty of little galleries and neat little outlets selling handcrafted jewellery, pottery, textiles and carvings at very affordable prices.
The area also offers you a wealth of adventurous activites and sightseeing! Try bushwalking, tramping, white water rafting and kayaking, quad biking, jet boating or visit the famous Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki.
At night, try visiting a popular evening attraction 'The Glow Worm Grotto', which is only 10 minutes walk along the road.
Your Hosts
Through working in West Coast tourism we have developed first-hand knowledge and experience of what The Coast has to offer. From Fox through to Punakaiki we've sampled a host of activities for ourselves including kayaking, rafting, glacier walks, heli-hikes, gold panning and jade carving to name but a few! Guests are welcome to ask us for free and honest advice. We are only too happy to help our guests make the most of their West Coast experience.
