Welcome to Villa Amo, a beautiful Tuscan style home on Lake Dunstan in breathtaking Central Otago, a 45 minute drive from both Queenstown and Wanaka. Pam & Ken warmly invite you to share their unique lakeside setting in the peaceful and gracious comfort of their Qualmark New Zealand 4 Star bed and breakfast. Relax and unwind in the company of friendly hosts who are passionate about their home and surrounding district.
Built in 1996 to take full advantage of the spectacular local scenery. We have panoramic views across the lake to the rugged Dunstan Mountains in the east, and in the opposite direction are the majestic Pisa Range and the outstanding Glacial outwash formation of the impressive Sugarloafs.
Our award winning home is located right on the edge of Lake Dunstan at Pisa Moorings just 7 minutes drive north of Cromwell, on the Wanaka Road and is the ideal base from which to explore the delightful old gold towns and wineries of unique Central Otago (a very relaxing days adventure), the all year round adrenaline activities of Queenstown (45 minutes) or the scenic views of Wanaka (40 minutes).
A home a way from home with that extra touch.
The house is constructed of enviromentally friendly materials that keep it cool in summer, but nice and snug during the winter months.
Heating during the winter is by using water pumped up from the Lake Dunstan and put across a ground source heat pump and then put back into the lake. With its thick insulated walls, floor and ceiling insulation and double glazed windows Villa Amo is a warm homely environment.
Accommodation.
The spacious guest wing of our home is quiet and private. The green room has a queen size bed made up with quality 100% cotton bed linen and a duvet with pure New Zealand wool inner, which can be changed if required.
Many conveniences are provided for your comfort, including fridge and tea/coffee making facilities, 26in LCD television with teletext, DVD player, film and book library, hair-dryer, Wireless Broadband Internet.
A second bedroom with a double bed is available should your party be of 3 or 4 people.
The equally spacious private bathroom gives you the choice of shower or a luxurious bath. Bathrobes can be found in your wardrobe.
Although the full private bathroom is guest share, it is our firm policy to take only one party at a time, so your party will be our only guest while you are with us.
In the morning enjoy an appetising continental and/or traditional cooked breakfast at a time that is convenient to you. Our days often start with a glorious sunrise and end with a majestic sunset while in between many hours of pleasurable unforgettable sightseeing can be had.
We encourage our guests to share our home with us and enjoy a chat over tea or coffee. If you prefer a quiet time, our lounge, with its view of the majestic Pisa Mountains is the ideal place.
Your Hosts.
Your hosts Pam & Ken moved to Cromwell about ten years ago from Invercargill, where they were twenty years self employed in the grocery industry.
Pam plays winter and summer lawn bowls at the local club and Ken is involved in many groups such as Old Cromwell Town, the Cromwell Sports Club and Cromwell Promotions Group.
Together they love entertaining guests from all over the world.
