Welcome to Rowley Cottage, a delightful and luxurious, self contained studio cottage located at Moncks Bay, a seaside suburb between Redcliffs and Sumner in Christchurch.
Formerly the historic Rowley School Tearooms, Rowley Cottage has been lovingly restored by your hosts, Dean and Deb Ross, to provide a unique and beautiful holiday home. Deb's decor expertise and eye for detail are apparent in the cottages interior, designed with the perfect blend of traditional charm and modern luxury.
The cottage is situated across the road from the ocean, overlooking shag rock and the Kaikoura mountain range, Rowley cottage is the perfect place for a special weekend getaway, honeymoon, or relaxing in a lovely garden and seaside micro-climate.
Rowley Cottage is located in the grounds of Muskoka Cottage, a fully restored 1920's house, which also provides luxurious Bed and Breakfast accommodation in the weekends. While Dean and Deb are always on hand to help, the cottage is completely self contained and very private, so you can come and go as you please.
Facilities
Rowley Cottage is decorated with Deb's collection of antiques, a fabulous bed with 100% cotton designer bedding and linens, and the ensuite bathroom is stocked with a range of Kiwi toiletries, hairdryer, and luxurious bathrobes.
The fully equipped kitchen is concealed behind cabinet doors, and features a sink, stove top, toaster/oven, dishwasher drawer, and a under bench fridge. Fresh breakfast ingredients are also provided.
For your enjoyment, the cottage also has flat screen TV, DVD player, and stereo sound system.
Tariff is $200.00 per night and includes self catered breakfast.
Location and Activities
Moncks Bay is located between Redcliffs and Sumner, opposite the Christchurch Yacht club. It is 15 minutes by car from the city centre, 25 by bike, or use the city's convenient bus service, which picks up and drops off at the end of the driveway.
On the property itself you can enjoy:

- Volleyball
- Badminton
- Books and board games
- Highspeed internet via wireless connection
- Relaxation on the front deck, back porch or living room in front of the fire
Within a 5 to 15 minute walk you can find yourself:
- Strolling on the beach
- Swimming in the ocean
- Kayaking in the estuary or down the Avon river
- Surfing in Sumner
- Wind surfing or sail boarding at Ferrymead
- Walking, running or biking in the scenic Port hills
- Shopping, dining, having coffee or taking in a movie in Sumner
Dean and Deb are happy to assist you in making the most of your time in the area by booking, hiring equipment or accompanying you on many of the activities in the area, as well as golf and down hill skiing -Just make a point of mentioning your interests at the time of booking.
Deb regularly takes the lovely walk over the hill to Lyttelton Farmers Market on a Saturday, and she is always more than happy for guests to accompany her to enjoy the wonderful range of fresh, organic and gourmet foods available, or to soak up the marvellous local atmosphere.
