Awarakau Farmstays is located on the South Coast of the rugged Chatham Islands. Set only metres from the sea it commands picture perfect views to the south pacific ocean and tranquil surroundings. With a temperate climate, The Chatham Islands are renowned for their scenery, forests, beaches, rugged coastline, and rare bird species that are unique to the island. Fresh fish abounds on the Chathams, and you can enjoy a wide range of seafood. Awarakau is a 1300 acre sheep and cattle farm situated approximately 8km from the main centre, Waitangi, where you will find Hotel Chatham, the ANZ Bank, Waitangi Cafe, Lakeview cafe, the local Police Station and Council offices. There are also 2 grocery shops, 2 fuel stations, a bottle store and other amenities. Facilities Awarakau Farmstays is a recently constructed (2005) and tastefully decorated facility purpose built for the comfort and relaxation of its guests offers a choice of King, Queen or Twin rooms, all with their own ensuite bathrooms. Recently added 2 bedroom self contained unit great for family . We cater for couples, or groups of up to 10 people. Accommodations also include complimentary continental breakfasts, access to a comfortable guest lounge with Sky TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Packed lunches can be provided in addition to a cooked meal in the evening at your request. Activities and things to do Fishing is available right at your door and fishing gear can be provided on request. Alternatively, fishing or diving trips further afield can also be arranged. Vehicles are available for your use - please enquire. Tariffs are available on request.
