Ugbrooke Country Estate is a truly unique yet unpretentious nineteenth century Marlborough property, on a 16 acre elevated site. The elegant homestead, delightful grounds and stunning vistas from Ugbrooke Country Estate make for an unforgettable setting for corporate retreats, weddings, romantic getaways and celebrations of any kind. The estate is the largest privately owned single storey house in New Zealand and listed with the Historic Places Trust of New Zealand. One and a half kilometres of curving, tree lined road lead the visitor to the homestead, a magnificent red brick house of 929m2 (10,000 sq ft), renowned for its size and unusual architectural features. Ugbrooke has spacious guest rooms, lofty pressed metal ceilings, and extensive timber finishes. The surrounding paddocks, while also being host to a 9 hole chip and putt golf course, cricket pitch and tennis courts, are home to the homestead's sheep and horses. Guest Accommodation The emphasis is on relaxation and warm hospitality, a unique home away from home. You have a choice of six boutique bedrooms, each named to reflect the rich history of the house. Indvidually decorated in soothing tones and comfortable luxury, you'll feel the rush melt away as you take in Ugbrooke''s aged grace and unique setting. Choose from three Heritage and three Classic Suites that echo the elegance of times past and offer the comforts of the modern world. All rooms have ensuite, modern heating and small bar fridge. Facilities and Dining Make the most of Marlborough's warm sunny climate lazing by the pool with a world class glass of sauvignon blanc. If you're feeling more energetic then have a game of lawn bowls or practise your swing on our nine hole chip and putt golf course that wends a challenging path through the surrounding paddocks. Enjoy a game of tennis on the two all-weather tennis courts. Continental breakfast is included in the rate, and lunch and/or dinner is available on request. We offer warm and relaxed dining on the verandah, overlooking vineyards to the Cook Strait, or in our elegant period dining room. Savour only the best of the region's produce with a reasonably priced three course dinner or join us for a home grown lamb roast or BBQ. Gluten free and vegetarian diets can be catered for with some notice and free range produce (we have our own free range chickens) is regarded as a priority and offered wherever possible. We are fully licensed and can complete your meal with world-class, locally produced wine.
