Paul and Daphne Radmall welcome you to St Leonards Vineyard Cottages, Blenheim, in the beautiful Marlborough region. The homestead is a classic New Zealand farm house built in the 1880s and was once the focal point of a large farm complex. The Homestead and Cottage Accommodation now form a unique collection of traditional buildings that have retained their original charm and yet provide up-to-date facilities. St Leonards offers a luxury self catering cottage accommodation retreat where the views are wonderful and the settings private. We live in the Homestead and welcome visitors to share our little bit of heaven.
Relax in our solar-heated pool, try your hand at pétanque or tennis, stroll through the citrus orchards and mature gardens, or take in the delights of the Marlborough region.
Located in the heart of the Cloudy Bay wine district, St Leonards is approximately 3km from Marlborough airport and 3km from Blenheim township, yet has all the advantages of a rural vineyard cottage outlook (we are surrounded by vineyards on all sides).
We also encourage our guests to wander through our gardens, pick seasonal fruit and meet our pets and animals. We keep sheep, fallow deer and chickens. The chooks are delighted to provide you with fresh eggs, when they are in the mood. The sheep are a troupe of clowns in disguise and can be seen, on their rear legs, raiding the lemon trees from time to time.
Accommodation
Five lovingly restored, fully self-contained character cottages, each in its own private setting amongst our five acres of gardens and trees. Our self-catering accommodation is suitable for singles, couples, or families, and breakfast provisions are included in the tariff.
- The Woolshed - A spacious, character, two bedroom cottage suitable for a family or two couples.
- The Cottage - Large, colonial New Zealand style, suitable for a couple or family. The accommodation is a queen size double bed in a separate bedroom. Additional accommodation is available in the lounge area.
- The Stables - Romantic cottage in private setting, ideal for a couple.
- The Old Dairy - Cute, cosy cottage suitable for a couple on a shorter stay.
- The Shearers QuartersShearers Quarters will accommodate singles or a couple plus one. Shearers is equipped with a queen sized double and a single bed.
All of our colonial New Zealand style cottage accommodation is fully self-contained with its own cooking and bathroom facilities. Each cottage has its own private BBQ area, complete with BBQ and outdoor dining facilities.
Facilities
Our 5 acres of grounds also includes a range of additional facilities that we invite guests to enjoy.
- Solar heated swimming pool. The pool has a maximum depth of 1.5m and has a built in shallow children's play area. Pool temperatures during the summer November to March period range between 24°C to 29°C.
- Adjacent to the homestead is a full sized lawn tennis court. Tennis rackets and croquet equipment can be found on the veranda.
- Our petanque court can be found along the boundary fence between the Woolshed and the Stables.
- For those guests that wish, complementary bikes are available for touring the local wineries.
St Leonards is located in the heart of the Marlborough wine country and offers a central base from which visitors can explore all the sights of Marlborough, with the world-renowned Marlborough Sounds just 30 mins drive.
