Henry Maxwell's Central Bed and Breakfast is an elegant 70 year old historic home. Located in Blenheim, the heart of New Zealand's world-famous Marlborough wine region. Henry Maxwell's offers guests a unique opportunity to relax in a large character home with spacious, comfortable rooms,and warm hospitality.
The house features four guest rooms with garden views. Two rooms have en-suite, the other two share a large bathroom. The breakfasts are served in the dining room known as the map room. The walls feature maps from all over the world, a great talking point.
The Marlborough Express described the bed and breakfast as "the gracious Henry Maxwell's, one of Blenheim's notable homes...a local landmark, distinctive for its style and the giant Nikau palm outside."
We are situated only five minute from the centre of Blenheim where you can explore the local shops, sample local food and the excellent cafes and restaurants. The house is ideally situated as a base to tour the region's fine vineyards, or gateway to the beautiful Marlborough Sounds. The largest town in Marlborough, Blenheim is 29km South of Picton. Small and friendly, with a superb climate, good parks and gardens it is the gateway to the world-famous wineries, and Rainbow ski field.

The Flower Room
The Flower Room is an extra large room that comfortably sleeps three people. This luxurious room is quiet and sunny with a great view of the garden and its bird life. The room is ideal for couples or families with a comfortable queen size bed as well as a single one. All beds have a electric blanket for the cooler winter months. The Flower Room has a walk-in wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom a hairdryer is provided.
The Grape Room
The Grape Room is a large quiet and sunny room with a lovely view of the garden. Featuring a queen-size bed and a comfortable sofa to watch television. There is a lovely en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower and hairdryer.
The Blue Room
The Blue Room is a large suite which sleeps three people, making it ideal for families and friends. This is a quiet and sunny room with a good view of the garden. Featuring a queen-size bed and a cute separate single room. The spacious, luxury bathroom is shared with one other single room and features a large bath with shower.
The Oriental Room
The Oriental Room is a quiet and sunny single room with a good view of the garden. Ideal and affordable accommodation for travellers, this room has a single bed with a electric blanket for the cooler winter months. The spacious luxury bathroom is shared with one other room and features a large bath with shower.
All rooms have television, tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary port.
Unwind in the comfort of our sunny and spacious lounge. Providing a "home from home" the lounge is a welcome surprise for many guests expecting only to find their rooms to relax in. Feel free to browse through our collection of magazines, watch television or listen to some music.
There are also lovely secluded areas in our garden, with comfortable furniture for guests to relax and enjoy the sunshine that Marlborough is famous for.
Guests are invited to use our off-street parking. We are more than happy to book tours and excursions on your behalf.
Breakfast
Guests can choose between the 'lifestyle' or 'country' breakfast, and dietary restrictions are catered for. There is also a local Japanese restaurant that can provide Japanese style breakfast if required.
Your hosts are Diana and Graham Westenra. We run Graymere @ Henry Maxwells in conjunction with our farm in the beautiful Awatere valley. We have travelled extensively ourselves and enjoy meeting people, and are enjoying our new venture.
We also offer combinations of accommodation. There is the lounge with library, TV and wireless access and dining room with kitchenette facilities. There are also laundry facilities available. The prices quoted are nightly, however there are opportunities for short or long term guests to be self contained,with very competitive rates.
